The awards ceremony begins shortly after 10:00 a.m. on the main stage in Ann Morrison Park. Once you enter the park from the finish line, keep moving through to the main park area for your breakfast, and then continue towards the main stage for some great, live entertainment. Participants over 70 years old and 9K age group winners will be recognized during the awards ceremony. All 9K participants who finish the race will receive a special inaugural finisher medal.

Results Canopy
In 2013 we are proud to announce that ALL participants in both the 5K and 9K will be timed at no extra cost to the participant! Your finishing time serves as an important benchmark as you seek to improve your fitness levels from year to year. All results will be located at the results tent to the left of the main stage in Ann Morrison Park. Live results will also be available immediately via your smart phone.

NEW for 2013: Event day photos, video and live results
ChronoTrack Live enables real-time mobile results, allowing you to track yourself or any other athlete as they compete. With mobile results you can search for athletes by name or bib. The results show individual athletes’ pace, split and finish times, overall results and age group placing. Through Chrono Track Live we are also able to offer participants access to course photos and video. Watch for a confirmation email in September that will allow you to opt in to all live results and social media services. You may also opt in at the FitOne Expo during packet pick up.

Shuttles
After the event, beginning at 10:00 a.m., shuttles will depart from Ann Morrison Park, just east of the fountain. Shuttles will exit the park via Royal Blvd and will return 9K participants to the Old Idaho Penn. Shuttles will run until all participants are on the buses.

FitOne is the evolution of the 20-year Women's Fitness Celebration, founded by 3x Olympian and former World Record Holder, Anne Audain.

In December of 2001, St. Luke’s became the Presenting Sponsor of the Women’s Fitness Celebration. In 2013, and in collaboration with Anne, St. Luke’s identified an even greater opportunity for the event. Under the leadership of Kristin Armstrong, St. Luke’s Executive Director of Community Health, and Heather Hill, Event Director, the idea of FitOne was born.

With FitOne, our mission is to build healthier communities through fun, active living.

Being fit is not a destination; it is a way of life, and through FitOne our vision is to inspire families to come to the starting line every September and encourage progressive steps in a healthy direction throughout the year.

FitOne is organized for the benefit of the participants, the community and the promotion of health and fitness; and will continue to evolve as a year-round platform providing resources and opportunities to support active, healthy living 365 days a year.

Anne Audain

Olympian & Chief Inspirational Officer

  • GET FIT PICK: After more than 4 decades of being a runner, 22 years at a world class level, I still LOVE to run and do so daily when possible. I prefer to run alone and use the time to “meditate” about all things in life.
  • Favorite Indulgence: Attending LIVE sporting events with my husband. Just nailed the Kentucky Derby.
  • Favorite vacation spot: 17 years going to Bar Harbor, Maine, the only spot in USA that reminds of the island in my native New Zealand where my grandmother lived.
  • Addictive trait: Voracious reader. Three newspapers a day, real thing, not online! Favorite book genre is crime novels.
  • Cats or Dogs: Have had 7 “all black” cats in my life. All spoiled rotten. Would love to have dogs but travel too much. Am going to become a “dog walker” at the Humane Society when I retire.
  • Shouldn’t have discovered: Barbeque!
  • Hobby: Planting my flower pots every spring and then having the challenge of keeping them going through very hot summers.
  • My car: 17 year old stick shift Saturn, no power steering, wind-down windows with only 55,000 miles. It may out last me! Spend too many miles in the air!
  • Getting older: I am extremely fortunate to have lived a life of amazing experiences to the point if I was diagnosed with a terminal illness I do not have a “bucket list.” I would happily spend my days in my yard with my husband, cat and plenty of reading material.
  • Unique distinction: International honors: Am in the Running USA Hall of Champions, New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame and have an MBE (Member of the British Empire) from Queen Elizabeth II of England for my contribution to sport worldwide.
  • Life’s mantra: Attitude is everything! Patience and perseverance can take you far. Never quit!

Helping children heal in body, mind, and spirit.

As Idaho’s only Children’s Hospital, St. Luke’s is dedicated to the highest quality, most compassionate care for all children and their families. Children have very different health care needs than adults, requiring up to 40% more primary and preventative care; and St. Luke’s has been designed specifically to accommodate kids of every size, age and developmental stage.

St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is a Not-For-Profit, turning no one away ever, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. We believe every child deserves the best care, and thanks to you, more kids will get the diverse care they need, right here at home.

When faced with a child’s medical crisis or chronic illness, the availability of a local children’s hospital helps families stay within existing support systems – family, employers, church, familiar surroundings and habits.

It is with the ongoing support of FitOne participants like you, personal and team fundraising, private and corporate donors and our dedicated volunteers that St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is able to care for more than 71,000 children every year.

2014 Volunteer registration opens on May 6th!

Discover the healthy benefits of helping others.

There are many reasons to volunteer, like giving back to the community or social networking. There is another important reason to volunteer, that you may not have considered:
Volunteering is good for your health.

Yes, studies show that volunteering provides benefits to both your mental and physical health. This means that the time you spend volunteering offers a double advantage: You help others and you're also helping yourself. The Health Benefits of Volunteering: A Review of Recent Research, compiled by the Corporation for National and Community Service, summarizes findings of multiple studies looking at the relationship between health and volunteering. These findings consistently demonstrated a connection between volunteering and good health, including greater longevity, lower rates of depression, a lower incidence of heart disease and higher functional ability.

A team of approximately 1,000 volunteers are essential to the success of the FitOne 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Expo. From greeting attendees and handing out race packets to our participants at the FitOne Expo, to helping with set up, keeping our courses safe and handing out water during the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon events, we consider each and every volunteer an integral member of our team.

Volunteer positions are available race week between Wednesday, September 17 and Saturday, September 20.

5K Course Details

The 5K is USATF Certified. What does USATF Certified mean?

"A USATF-certified course is a road race course whose distance has been certified for accuracy. Courses must be certified for any road running performance to be accepted as a record or to be nationally ranked. Furthermore, running a race on a certified course allows you to accurately compare your time to performances run on other certified courses because you can be sure the distances were the same. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate." ~ USA Track and Field Website

Course enforcement and safety
Remember ALL persons on FitOne courses must be registered including all babies and children.

Participants must wear their race number on the front, outermost layer of clothing so that it is visible to all race personnel and city officials. Tiny Tots or any other children being pushed in a stroller may affix the race number to the outside of the stroller. IT MUST BE VISIBLE!

Stroller Safety is important to us:

  • If you will be walking with a jogger or stroller, unless you are in the 5K Competitive Stroller wave you will need to register and participate in the Family Wave presented by Chobani (orange wave).
  • Be courteous of other participants’ safety.
  • WALK the entire course.

For liability reasons, those not registered and not wearing a race bib number will be asked to leave the courses on race day.
