Five year-old Landon was born with a rare and very serious heart condition in which the left side of his heart was underdeveloped, called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. At just six days old, Landon was flown to Las Vegas for his first open heart surgery. He underwent a second surgery at six months old and another at age 2 ½ years. Thanks to the St. Luke’s pediatric cardiology team, Landon and his family received not only great care, but also education, reassurance, comfort, and hope.
When children like Landon must leave the state for advanced treatment at major hospitals, the St. Luke’s team cares for them before they leave, helps prepare them for travel, arranges transfers, and continues their care upon return home. St. Luke’s pediatric cardiology specialists not only provide care at the Children’s Hospital; they also travel throughout the state bringing expert care close to home for kids with serious heart conditions. The team is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and quality of life for all kids.
Today Landon is a vibrant little boy who loves to make people laugh and smile. He’s a little cowboy who loves horses, t-ball, and camping. St. Luke’s believes every child deserves the best care so they can live long, healthy lives…and touch many hearts along the way.
