Delightful, amazing, and an inspiration to others is how Breanne is described by her peers. A friend to all, she is the first to speak about social injustice, and will stand up for anyone she feels is being mistreated.
Following a recommendation from her pediatrician, Breanne enrolled in YEAH! (Youth Engaged in Activities for Health), a healthy lifestyle program that teaches children about nutrition, reading labels, exercise, cooking, emotions, and behavior. The program provided much needed tools that allowed Breanne to feel like she could find balance in her life.
Breanne enjoyed the program so much that she participated in the YEAH! Explore Camp at Bogus Basin. Barriers of shapes and sizes were never a focus, but instead campers were mentored by peers and set individual goals that were celebrated by everyone. By the end of camp, Breanne had made lifelong friends, and came away motivated.
“In the future she hopes to become a camp counselor and a role model to others,” Breanne’s grandmother says. “YEAH! Explore camp has made her aware of how the decisions she makes affect her daily life.”
